CIT-NAWIC Women in Construction Scholarship

Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) and National Association for Women in Construction (NAWIC) have partnered to offer the CIT-NAWIC Women in Construction Scholarship.

Three scholarships will be available in Semester 2, 2017.

This scholarship is available to assist women to enrol in certain certificate IV and diploma qualifications to provide an opportunity for the personal and professional development of female building and construction professionals whether in technical, management or policy roles. It will support women in the industry to further their experience in a specific construction discipline or career development through obtaining a qualification in the relevant building and construction qualifications offered by CIT Technology and Design in Semester 2, 2017.

About the scholarship

  • The scholarship is for women 17 years or older, mature aged women are encouraged to apply.
  • The scholarship is for women either employed in or about to commence employment in the building and construction industry.
  • It is available to full and part time female students enrolling in one of the eligible CIT qualifications in Semester 2, 2017.
  • The length of the scholarship is four semesters up until the end of Semester 1, 2017, or upon completion of the qualification whichever comes first.
  • The value is up to $1,000 per scholarship to directly contribute to CIT student fees across the period nominated above.
  • Scholarship holders will receive a free NAWIC Membership which opens the way to networking events, mentoring, further professional development opportunities, and discounted prices to the amazing events that NAWIC ACT offer.
  • Scholarships are competitive as there is a limited number available.

CIT qualifications eligible for scholarship in Semester 2, 2017

  • Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building)
  • Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Contract Administration)
  • Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Site Management)
  • Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Estimating)
  • Diploma of Building and Construction (Building)
  • Diploma of Building and Construction (Management).

Are you eligible?

To be eligible for a CIT-NAWIC Women in Construction Scholarship you must be:

  • a woman 17 years of age or older
  • either employed in, or about to commence employment in, the building and construction industry
  • intending to enrol, or already enrolled in one of the eligible CIT building and construction qualifications starting in Semester 2, 2017
  • able to meet the entry criteria for the nominated qualification, including citizenship requirements
  • living and/or working in the ACT
  • committed to complete the nominated qualification at CIT before the end of Semester 1, 2017
  • eligible to attend the relevant classes at CIT Bruce in 2017-2019.

Note the scholarship is not available to:

  • women currently enrolled in a qualification who have already undertaken study prior to Semester 2, 2017 in the nominated qualification
  • international students.

Application process

  • To be eligible for consideration, you must complete the Scholarship Application Form in full, and submit it along with supporting documentation by 4pm AEDT Friday [7 July 2017] to Canberra Institute of Technology.
  • Applications will be considered and assessed by the selection committee. Interviews may also be conducted. The decision by the selection committee is final and appeals will not be accepted.
