University Engagment

Building on the efforts of our school engagement activities, working with university students on channelling their study efforts towards a role in the built environment sector. Working closely with our tertiary education partners, we provide similar opportunities as in school engagement to drive that outcome – i.e. panel discussions and webinars, in addition to live site visits of varying scale. We also work in partnership with student-led organisations such as QUT Construct to deepen student engagement. We engage with students in the following ways:

  • Orientation week functions;
  • Career days; and,
  • Industry panel discussions.

 

Excecutive Leadership Program

This component is centred on creating value amongst the most experienced members of our industry and broader membership base. This series is an area of focus for growth in the near term, as NAWIC supports women in their preparedness for board roles in the construction industry and beyond. A typical iteration of the program is comprised of three events running in collaboration with an industry partner -- in FY19-20 partnering with McCullough Robertson Lawyers -- focussed on a number of key issues. Some examples if topics covered in this program include Flexible Work Arrangements & Agile Working – What Do These Mean To A Manager?, Women on Boards and Entrepreneurial Leadership.
