QLD Mentoring & Education

NAWIC QLD Mentoring Program is back again for 2026 and open for applications!

The QLD Chapter offer a formal mentoring program, that can be tailored to the individual needs of participants, and is accessible to NAWIC QLD Members across all career stages. A complimentary element of QLD chapter membership, the program includes three formal and two informal events offering tangible learning and networking opportunities, centred around a central unifying topic – running across the breadth of a given calendar year (March 2026 - November 2026). In addition to being paired with a dedicated mentor/mentee, our events offer unparalleled opportunities to build relationships with professionals from across the broadest spectrum of the industry possible.

About the Program

The Queensland Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction’s Education and Mentoring Committee is calling for participants for this year’s Mentoring Program.

With facilitator groups based in Brisbane and Townsville, the NAWIC QLD Mentoring Program is for (but not limited to):
⭐ Construction industry professionals (of all genders!) within SEQ as well as regional and rural areas across all of Queensland,
⭐ All individuals who are looking to grow their network and/or gain support from outside of their current company,
⭐ Mentees who have graduated* and are new to the construction industry, or are well into their career, and are looking to continue their professional development with a fresh perspective, and
⭐ Mentors who are passionate about women in construction, passing on their industry knowledge and helping to upskill the next ‘generation’ of construction professionals.

PURPOSE

NAWIC's mission is to improve the Australian construction industry through the greater participation of women and to contribute to the development of a world-class construction industry by providing leadership, representation and the promotion of women in construction to government, the construction industry and the media.

NAWIC QLD considers the NAWIC Mentoring Program as one of the most important activities of the Chapter as it is directly associated to the objectives and missions of the NAWIC organisation. The Program aims to inspire women in the industry to continually strive for higher levels of performance and provide guidance on career pathways to enable them to achieve their career goals and aspirations. The Program is designed in line with sound Mentoring program principles and adheres to contemporary practices.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Pairings
Following a successful pilot year, the NAWIC QLD Mentoring Program will again be facilitated by Mentorloop, NAWIC’s online mentoring and community platform, used across Australia.

The NAWIC QLD Mentoring Committee will review and approve the Mentor/Mentee pairings in Mentorloop. All persons will be notified when they have been matched with a Mentor/Mentee via the Mentorloop platform.

As part of the Program, participants will be matched with individuals aligned to their career goals and aspirations, and will gain access to Mentorloop’s Resources platform, containing useful tools, articles and training videos designed to enhance participants’ mentoring experience.

Events
The program will formally commence with a Launch Event, where Mentor and Mentee pairs meet and are given a detailed introduction to the Program. Mentoring pairs will have the opportunity to set out a formal program to help them meet and develop their individual objectives for the Mentoring relationship. NAWIC encourages all parties to attend this session, as the information shared will provide the mentoring pair with a strong foundation of knowledge and skills, enabling them to commence their mentoring relationship in a positive way.

There will be opportunities throughout the program for Mentors/Mentees to give feedback on their experiences of the Mentoring Program including suggestions for how NAWIC might develop and improve the program.
