NT - Training & Scholarships

DONOR
NAWIC NT (The National Association of Women in Construction – NT Division)

PURPOSE
To support and advance women in the construction industry in the Northern Territory.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Must be a female student studying at Charles Darwin University
  • Must be enrolled in a Higher Education or Technical and Further Education (TAFE) course leading to employment in the construction industry
  • Must be a resident of the Northern Territory
  • Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Provide a short biography which includes details of your background, reasons why you are applying for a scholarship, reasons for choosing your area of study and details of your future plans and ambitions
  • Demonstrate passion, ability and initiative in your approach to study
  • Demonstrate commitment to the NT and an intention to use your skills in this area

Desirable

  •  Preference will be given to existing NAWIC members

PAYMENT OF BENEFITS

  • Each recipient will be paid by electronic funds transfer to their nominated bank account.
  • Payment will be made after the Census dates in Semester 1 and/or Semester 2.
  • Payments are subject to the recipient satisfying ongoing eligibility criteria as outlined in this document and the Donor Scholarship Policy.

DURATION

The duration of the Scholarship is one (1) semester or when one of the following is true:

  • The maximum Scholarship value has been exhausted;
  • The student has completed their course of study;
  • The student no longer meets the ongoing eligibility of the Scholarship.

A recipient who commences the Scholarship part way through their course may not receive the full Scholarship amount. This is also true for recipients who do not follow a usual full-time study load. The total value of the Scholarship may be exhausted prior to completion.

SELECTION

Eligible applications will be presented to a Selection Committee shortly after the scholarship closing date. Offers will be authorised by the Chair of the Selection Committee in line with the Donor Scholarship Policy.

Other obligations and conditions:

  • The offer of the Scholarship is made subject to information provided by the recipient being true and accurate.
  • By accepting the offer of the Scholarship, each recipient agrees to the Scholarship Terms and Conditions.
  • The recipient is responsible for advising the Scholarships Officer of any changes in circumstances that would make them ineligible for continuation of the Scholarship, e.g. reducing study load to part-time, applying for an intermission or transferring to another course.

TERMINATION OF RECIPIENT’S SCHOLARSHIP

The Scholarship will terminate:

  • If the recipient ceases to meet the eligibility criteria; or
  • If the recipient fails to meet the ongoing eligibility criteria for two (2) teaching periods; or
  • If the recipient withdraws from their course; or
  • If the recipient breaches any conditions of the Scholarship; or
  • If CDU determines that the student is guilty of serious misconduct
