Having come from a visual communication background, Elizabeth had pre-conceived notions of what construction was. While taking the leap into a heavily male-dominated industry was daunting at first, she saw an opportunity to be an active part in making the industry more inclusive and forward-thinking.
Since taking that leap, Elizabeth has joined a construction company that is nearly 50/50 gender balance, become NAWIC ACT Committee Co-Chair, and helped create a not-for-profit for women in trades. It’s shown a range of possible career pathways, skill development and provided her with a deeper connection to the Canberra community.
