Helen is a carpenter and joiner, training in Ireland and Holland before travelling to Australia. She broadened her professional career and personal growth by embarking on further training with Diplomas in Construction and Quantity Surveying while working in commercial construction estimating. Helen has diversified and honed her estimating skills over the years progressing from commercial construction, major trunk oil & gas pipelines, oil & gas well head facilities and then to water & wastewater infrastructure, before recently moving into a more diverse role encompassing estimating & project controls with EIM. She became involved with NAWIC and volunteered with the Women on Tools Committee with a focus on supporting the retention of females in their trade roles during and post pregnancy and then Also stepped in to Chair the Committee from Jan 2019, heading up new initiatives developed by the Committee and funded by CSQ to encourage more women to take up trades, lead a cultural change across the industry and focus on retaining the skilled resources.
