NAWIC WA | SITE VISIT: BUNBURY OUTER RING ROAD & KEMERTON LITHIUM HYDROXIDE PROCESSING PLANT

Please join NAWIC for our first regional site visit. The site visit will be visiting the Bunbury Outer Ring Road Project as well as the Kemerton Litium Hydroxide Plant project. The site visits are being facilitated by the following organisations:

Bunbury Outer Ring Road (BORR)
BORR will provide an alternative route around Bunbury and separate local and regional traffic. BORR will be built in three sections:

  • Northern Section - Forrest Highway to Boyanup Picton Road
  • Central Section - Boyanup Picton Road to South Western Highway
  • Southern Section - South Western Highway to Bussell Highway.

Works are underway and are being undertaken by South West Gateway Alliance comprising Acciona, NRW Contracting, MACA Civil, AECOM, Aurecon along with Main Roads.

Kemerton Lithium Hydroxide Plant
Albemarle are currently constructing what is expected to be one of the world’s largest lithium hydroxide production facilities in Kemerton, Western Australia. In view of the rapidly expanding battery market for electric cars and renewable power storage, the Kemerton Lithium Hydroxide Plant, will be a greenfield LiOH.H2O production plant at Kemerton Strategic Industrial Area.

The Albemarle Kemerton Plant will process spodumene ore (containing 6% lithium oxide) concentrate via pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical unit operations to produce lithium hydroxide monohydrate (LiOH.H2O) as a final product and a sodium sulfate by-product.
