This workshop tour would help visitors to gain insights on the technology of indoor environmental comfort that is provided by HVAC mechanical services including heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems. How the use of various technologies can control the temperature, humidity and purity of the air in an enclosed space.
 
The outcomes for this workshop include:

  1. Participants will become more aware, understand as to how the three major functions of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning can be designed into an interrelated system and known as HVAC system design, a discipline of mechanical engineering.
  2. Participants will obtain a basic understanding as to how the process of exchanging or replacing air in any space known as Ventilation to provide high indoor air quality that involves temperature control, oxygen replenishment, and removal of moisture, odours, smoke, heat, dust, and airborne bacteria.
  3. Participants will become more aware of the importance of prefabrication and offsite preassembly to assist in the preparation of complex mechanical services systems to facilitate time restraints imposed by construction programs. Early engagement becomes a clear message to deliver large systems and in a controlled safe environment.
  4. Participants will obtain an understanding of different methods of construction for the range of products used in mechanical services installations.
  5. Participants may obtain the knowledge as to how an air conditioning system provides cooling and/ or humidity control for all or part of a building.
