NAWIC QLD 2010 Crystal Vision Awards - and the winners are...

NAWIC QLD 2010 CRYSTAL VISION AWARDS

Queensland women working in the construction industry were acknowledged for their courage, skills and innovation last night at the National Association for Women in Construction (NAWIC) Qld Crystal Vision Awards.

Less than three percent of construction trade workers in Queensland are women and the NAWIC awards acknowledge those who are succeeding in the industry and aim to encourage more Queensland women to consider a career in construction.

The most coveted award, the Brisbane City Council Crystal Vision Award, was won by Buildmore Group Company Director Sam Sheppard for her outstanding contribution to the Queensland construction industry.

Sam has been active in the building industry for more than 20 years and in 2009 she initiated and drove the award winning “Buildmore Women into Building Housing Showcase” which involved women from all aspects of the industry coming together to design, construct and supply an environmentally sustainable home.

NAWIC Qld President, Nicholle Sparkes, congratulated each of the winners and all those who were nominated for the 2010 awards.

“The judges have chosen 12 outstanding Queensland women who have clearly demonstrated their commitment to the construction industry,” Ms Sparkes said.

“The Awards Night was a sell-out with more than 500 people in attendance. It was great to see our winners and nominees supported by so many family members, friends and colleagues.”

The 2010 judging panel comprised of Michelle Hele, Property Editor for the Courier Mail, Gretel Bakker, Managing Director of Performance Frontiers and Mara Bun, Chief Executive Office of Green Cross Australia.

The 2010 Winners of the National Association for Women in Construction (NAWIC) Qld 2010 Crystal Vision Awards are:
