President

Hayley McBride/ Isis Group
 


Hayley McBride is a Senior Project Coordinator at ISIS with a specialisation in regional projects.  With over five years experience in the construction industry, Hayley has established herself as a Green Star Champion in the Western Australian office and is passionate about delivering more sustainable projects. 

Currently Hayley is working towards achieving her Masters in Project Management and has successfully stepped into the role as Project Manager for a number of projects.  Hayley works collaboratively with her clients and has experience in both metropolitan and regional locations throughout Western Australia working on new build projects, fitout and refurbishment projects as well as commercial property relocations.

Having a strong commitment to her field and a champion of women in the construction industry,  Hayley believes that her involvement in NAWIC provides an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences in a supportive environment with likeminded individuals.



Vice President and Website Committee Chair

Jo McElvenny/ Evoke Interior Design

Jo is Senior Interior Designer at Evoke Interior Design, a Subiaco W.A. based commercial Interior Design Practice. Jo studied Marketing at Murdoch Uni before retraining for an Advanced Diploma of Interior Design which she gained from the WA School of Art and Design, Central TAFE.

 

Jo works principally in office and customer service related fitout although is working to diversify Evoke’s and her own portfolio to include Hotel and hospitality work.

 

Jo has loved being a part of the inaugural year of NAWIC WA watching the ideas grow to bring education, networking and a sense of being a part of a bigger community to the very busy women in the Western Australian Construction workforce!



WA National Director and Marketing Committee Chair

Elizabeth Handley/ Thinc Projects

Elizabeth is a Consultant for Thinc Projects, an international management consultancy firm specialising in projects.  Elizabeth has seven years experience as a project manager across a wide-range of projects for major corporates such as Feltex Carpets, Lumley Insurance, National Australia Bank, and Barrick Gold.  She has three tertiary qualifications and a Diploma in Project Management.  Australia is her fourth home in a diversified career that has taken her from the United States to Chile, New Zealand and Australia. 

Promoting women in the construction industry is a focus for Elizabeth.  She passionately believes that there are excellent career opportunities exist for women in what was a male-dominated field.  Women are working across all areas from the legal arena and contracts administration, to architecture and interior design, on to site management and trades.  NAWIC offers an excellent forum for women to come together to share their experiences and gain information on trends and developments in the industry to strengthen their capacities. 



Treasurer

Miriam D'Souza/ Freehills

 

Miriam is a Senior Associate at Freehills, a commercial law firm. Miriam studied law at the University of Western Australia and has been practising law for the last 7 years.

Miriam’s main focus is front end construction law and she has been involved in a wide range of major projects in the public and private sectors.

Miriam is delighted to be involved with the WA Chapter of NAWIC as it is a unique organisation that allows women in the construction industry to network and support each other in their pursuits.




Secretary

Caroline Woo/ Freehills


Caroline Woo is a Senior Associate in the Project Dispute Resolution Group at Freehills, a national law firm. Her key area of interest is in relation to disputes arising out of construction projects in the resources sector. In addition to her legal qualifications, Caroline has a degree in architecture. Prior to studying law at Murdoch University, she worked for Singapore’s national developer of industrial infrastructure.  Caroline is also currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Construction Law.

 

Caroline sees NAWIC as a wonderful opportunity for women from the many different facets of the construction industry to meet, support and learn from one another. It also provides an opportunity for women in the industry at different stages of their careers, whether they be apprentices, students or senior professionals, to share their experiences.

Tamica D'Uva/ Lavan Legal


Tamica D'Uva is an Associate at Lavan Legal specialising in Construction Law.  Tamica deals with the preparation and review of construction contracts in both commercial and residential matters.  Tamica assists builders, contractors and owners in building and construction disputes and regularly appears in the Supreme Court, District Court, State Administrative Tribunal and the Building Disputes Tribunal.

 

Tamica is excited to be apart of NAWIC team and is looking forward to promoting, assisting and raising the profile of women in the construction industry.




Events Committee Chair

Danielle Wilkinson/ Office of the Australian Building and Construction Commissioner


Danielle is a lawyer with a background in the building and construction industry who has recently settled in the Perth area.

 

Danielle is genuinely looking forward to the opportunity to be part of the progressive organisation that is NAWIC. Danielle believes NAWIC provides an opportunity for women to  share general and industry-specific ideas and develop strong professsional relationships with others within the industry.

Awards Committee Chair

Kristina Botsis/ Lavan Legal



Kristina Botsis is a solicitor at Lavan Legal, the largest independent law firm in Perth.  Kristina works in the construction and contracts team at Lavan Legal and specialises in construction dispute resolution.  Kristina advises clients in relation to contract and construction disputes and regularly appears in the Supreme Court, District Court, Magistrates Court and State Administrative Tribunal on behalf of builders, developers, contractors and home owners.  Kristina is also currently undertaking a Masters in Construction Law at Melbourne University.

 

Kristina thinks that NAWIC provides a fantastic opportunity for women in the construction industry to strengthen their networks and gain insight and knowledge into the different areas of the industry. She is looking forward to working with NAWIC to raise the profile of women in the construction industry and getting the first NAWIC WA awards night off the ground.

Deborah Burrows/ Currie & Brown


Deborah has worked for over ten years as a Quantity Surveyor & Project Manager in various sectors of the construction industry including oil & gas, pharmaceutical, infrastructure and commercial.


Having recently moved to Perth from Ireland Deborah is looking forward to working with the rest of the NAWIC team and raising the profile and membership of NAWIC in WA.
