The Western Australia Chapter calendar of events is being developed to include site visits, networking evenings, professional development activities and much more.  These events will offer an excellent opportunity to meet fellow NAWIC members and industry professionals.

Below are details of WA's approaching events.

NAWIC September Breakfast Seminar – Two Fantastic Speakers on Hot Industry Issues!

Market Trends, Sustainability and Key Issues Facing the WA Construction Industry Today

We invite you to join us for a breakfast to hear Debra Goostrey, Chief Executive Officer for the WA Branch of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA), speak about where the WA market is going; what the market is showing as trends; the impact of sustainability in design and lifestyles, and the key issues emerging in the State’s construction industry today.  This is an excellent opportunity to hear from a leading woman in the industry and get the inside information on where we are headed.

Debra has held her leadership position of the UDIA since May 2007 and has become a familiar figure in the industry.  As the peak body for the urban development industry, UDIA has achieved significant profile under Debra’s leadership as she continues to represent the views of members to government and through ongoing media commentary.

Safety Harmonisation - What will it mean for you?

Elaine Wambeck, Solicitor for Norton Rose, will provide an informative session on the eminent changes to the Work Health and Safety Act as the Government moves to harmonise the safety laws in Australia. Elaine specialises in employment, industrial relations and occupational health and safety law at Norton Rose.  Her talk will help you gain an understanding of harmonisation and how this will impact on the construction industry.  Her presentation will focus on Safety Duties, including additional obligations on officers; Enforcement; Penalty regime; and Rights of entry.
