NAWIC NSW | SYDNEY ART WALK

NAWIC NSW | SYDNEY ART WALK

Barbara Flynn and NAWIC NSW invite you to join us for an exclusive art walk through the Sydney CBD led by Barbara Flynn.

Specialising in Australian and international contemporary and emerging art, Barbara is a curatorial advisor to city and state government, educational institutions, foundations, development companies and architectural firms. She oversees several of the most prestigious public art projects underway in Australia, working with artists to guide the creation of singular new works of art for the public realm.

Barbara is uniquely placed as curator of the six works of public art on the tour to provide in depth information about the artists. She will share the behind-the-scenes stories of how artworks have been achieved that can be as complex as the buildings they enhance.

The tour is a 90-minute outdoor walking tour.

The tour itinerary is as follows:
Yirranma Place, Paul Ramsay Foundation, 262 Liverpool Street, Darlinghurst
Agatha Gothe-Snape, The Noblest (2021), Greenland Centre (Greenland (Australia) Investment Pty Ltd/BVN)
Jenny Holzer, I STAY (Ngaya ngalawa) (2014), 8 Chifley Square (Mirvac/Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners)
Olafur Eliasson, Roof for stray thoughts (2022), Quay Quarter Tower (AMP Capital/3XN)
Tracey Emin, The Distance of Your Heart (2018), Macquarie Place park (project of City of Sydney)
Jonathan Jones, Remembering Arabanoo (2022), Quay Lanes Sydney (AMP Capital/SJB, SilversterFuller, Bright Design, Carter Williamson)

Tour attendees are invited to stay for a drink (not included in the fee) after the tour at Apollonia (Basement, Hinchcliff House, 5-7 Young Street). This will be an opportunity to further discuss the artworks on the tour with Barbara.

Please note this is a walking tour, and attendees will be required to walk for around 90 minutes. The distance between the Bates and Gothe-Snape’s artworks is longest, about 18 minutes.
